How it connects

One battery, many connections

Adding storage changes how your solar, grid connection, switchgear, gensets, chargers and software behave. We design those connections as one system, so a battery project with us never stops at the battery.

The connections around the battery

At the centre is the battery system itself. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells sit in modules and racks, with a battery management system (BMS) watching every cell. A power conversion system (PCS) turns DC into AC and back, and an energy management system (EMS) decides when to charge and discharge.

  1. Solar & wind

    HYBRID PCS · TIME-SHIFT

Store midday solar and use it after sunset instead of exporting or curtailing it. Existing rooftop and ground-mount plants can be retrofitted, and repowered wind sites can add storage.

  2. Grid & DISCOM

    PEAK SHAVING · TOD TARIFFS

Stay inside contract demand and move consumption out of time-of-day peak windows, with connection approvals handled as part of the job.

  3. Generator sets

    HYBRID CONTROL · FEWER STARTS

With the changeover designed for it, the battery covers short outages and light loads, so the diesel or gas genset starts less often and runs at healthier loading when it does.

  4. EV charging

    DC FAST · 2W/3W · FLEET AC

A battery buffers charger demand so fast chargers can share a smaller connection. We also build, install and maintain the chargers.

  5. Site loads

    CRITICAL BACKUP · POWER QUALITY

Where the system is designed and approved to island, keep process lines, cold rooms, wards and server rooms running through interruptions and voltage dips.

  6. Monitoring & EMS

    ENERGY 107 · SOC · ALARMS

Energy 107, our monitoring and energy-management layer, tracks charge, temperature and alarms, runs the dispatch schedule, alerts our O&M team and produces the reports for M&V and ESG.

01 · Solar & wind

Solar that works after sunset

Solar peaks at midday; Tamil Nadu's HT tariff peaks are in the morning and evening. Storage moves midday energy into those windows instead of exporting, banking or curtailing it. For captive plants, energy passed through storage between the plant and its captive user now counts as captive consumption. A CEA advisory asks solar projects to co-locate storage of at least 10% of installed capacity, for at least 2 hours. Near the Muppandal and Aralvaimozhi wind belt, storage can also smooth output at repowered or hybrid wind sites; Tamil Nadu's January 2026 repowering amendment allows repowered wind projects to become wind–solar hybrids.

What we do

  • Storage retrofits for existing rooftop and ground-mount solar (AC-coupled)
  • New hybrid plant design (DC-coupled)
  • Solar self-consumption and export-limit control
  • Solar carports and canopies for EV charging
  • Captive and open-access structuring support, alongside your legal advisers

02 · Grid & tariffs

Your tariff, read properly

Every behind-the-meter battery earns its keep against a tariff: time-of-day windows, demand charges measured in 15-minute blocks and power-factor thresholds. Getting connection approvals right is part of the job, not an afterthought.

A grid connection with a meter, and a demand line held under the contract limit: the battery serves the peaks above it. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Tariff and 15-minute load analysis
  • Contract-demand review and applications
  • Power-factor and harmonics assessment
  • Protection and anti-islanding design
  • Distribution company (DISCOM; TNPDCL in Tamil Nadu) and Electrical Inspectorate liaison

03 · Switchgear & protection

Transformers, switchgear and the meter

Storage and fast chargers change what your transformer, LT and HT panels, protection relays and metering must do, and power electronics affect power quality. The electrical backbone is what lets everything else connect safely, and it is where many approvals are decided.

04 · Generator sets

Your genset's smarter partner

Many commercial and industrial sites keep diesel or gas gensets for backup. Running lightly loaded through short outages, they use fuel inefficiently and wear faster. A battery covers short outages and transients, so the genset starts less often and runs at healthier load when it does. Consumer rules amended in 2022 direct diesel-backed consumers toward cleaner backup, including storage, on timelines set by State Commissions, and new gensets up to 800 kW must meet CPCB IV+ emission norms from 1 July 2023.

Our CEO has spent 22+ years in energy-business leadership, including a long association with Generac & Pramac gas and diesel gensets and large standby projects.

A genset and a battery cabinet joined by one control: in a short outage the battery carries the site; in a long one the genset joins in. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Genset log, fuel and loading audit
  • Hybrid control design: battery first, genset assist
  • ATS, changeover and synchronising-panel rework
  • Right-sizing when a genset is due for replacement
  • Load-bank and transfer testing at commissioning
  • Combined genset + battery O&M planning with your genset service provider

05 · EV charging

Chargers on a smaller connection

Fast chargers draw short, heavy peaks. A battery absorbs them, keeps charging running through short outages and stores solar for evening sessions. We also design, build, install, operate and maintain the chargers themselves, and repair and upgrade older ones.

A battery cabinet feeding a DC fast charger, so a car can fast-charge on a smaller grid connection. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Charging site design and EPC
  • Installation for networks and makers
  • Battery-buffered fast charging
  • Charger O&M, AMC, audits and upgrades

06 · Critical loads

Ride through dips and outages

ICUs, operating theatres, cold rooms, process lines and server rooms can't wait for a generator to start. Batteries respond in milliseconds and ride through voltage dips, provided the system is designed and approved for islanding, with proper transfer switching. Often the cheapest first step is fixing power factor or harmonics, which we check first.

What we do

  • Critical-load audit and single-line review
  • UPS + BESS architecture
  • Islanding, transfer and load-shedding design
  • Power-quality study: dips, harmonics, flicker, power factor

Use case: keep critical loads running

07 · Monitoring & EMS

The software that runs it

A battery's value comes from its dispatch logic, and its safety from watching it closely. Energy 107, our monitoring and energy-management layer, brings battery, solar, genset, meter and charger data into one view, runs the schedule and alerts our O&M team. The same data produces measurement-and-verification reports for shared-savings contracts and the energy figures you need for ESG disclosures.

We report energy and emissions data; we do not promise carbon credits or "net zero".

What we do

  • Dispatch schedules and demand limits
  • Alarms and escalation
  • State-of-health tracking against warranty
  • Monthly performance and M&V reports
  • Energy data for ESG reporting (grid, diesel and solar kWh), using the CEA’s published grid emission factors

08 · Safety & compliance

Compliance, built in early

From 1 April 2027, the CEA's battery-storage safety chapter applies to systems connected above 650 V, including an independent third-party fire-safety audit, and the state must see that fire officials are trained for battery risks. Charging stations already carry CEA safety and record-keeping duties, and batteries carry end-of-life duties under the waste rules. Planning for these from the first drawing costs far less than retrofitting.

We prepare you for the independent fire-safety audit. We do not act as the auditor.

What we do

  • CEA 2027 readiness reviews for new and existing BESS
  • Hazard review and emergency response plans based on the OEM’s UL 9540A data
  • Site familiarisation visits for the local fire service
  • Operator and staff training: alarms, isolation, emergency stops
  • Audit-readiness packs and Electrical Inspectorate documents
  • Compliance records for chargers (7 years) and batteries

09 · O&M

Upkeep under one contract

Storage and chargers are long-lived assets. Problems often surface early, and capacity fades gradually. One maintenance contract across battery, chargers, solar and the controls that tie them together means one team looks at the whole site.

A technician checks cabinet terminations with a thermal imager. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Remote monitoring and alarm response
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Annual capacity and efficiency tests
  • Takeover of systems installed by others
  • Monthly reports and compliance records

10 · Second life & recycling

End of life, planned from day one

Batteries used for energy storage are 'industrial batteries' under India's Battery Waste Management Rules 2022. Producers, including anyone importing batteries or equipment containing them, carry extended producer responsibility for collection and recycling or refurbishment, and waste batteries can't be landfilled or incinerated. Refurbishment for a second life is a recognised route, carried out by refurbishers registered with the State Pollution Control Board.

Second life isn't always right. Projects funded under the central VGF scheme can't use refurbished cells, and insurers may treat second-life systems differently. We'll tell you when recycling is the better answer.

Our Chief Technology & Business Advisor is an advocate of circular-economy practice in energy.

A used pack goes to the test bench, then to a second-life cabinet or to a registered recycler. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • End-of-life and take-back plans written into contracts
  • State-of-health testing to decide between second life and recycling
  • Coordination with registered recyclers and refurbishers
  • EPR guidance for owners who import equipment
  • Second-life systems only for suitable low-duty uses, evaluated case by case

11 · Microgrids

Solar, storage and genset, one controller

Fishing harbours and ice plants, estates, telecom sites, resorts and island communities often run on diesel. Solar, storage and the existing genset under one controller can carry them with far less fuel. An Indian example, not a CHE project: SECI's on-grid solar plants with battery storage at Kavaratti, Lakshadweep, dedicated in January 2024, have a combined 1.7 MW of solar and 1.4 MWh of storage.

What we do

  • Load and resource assessment
  • Microgrid design with grid-forming PCS
  • Genset integration and fuel planning
  • Remote monitoring with local service

12 · Ways to pay

Buy, lease or pay monthly

Since September 2025, consumers may develop, own, lease or operate energy storage. That opens up service and ownership models as well as outright purchase, for storage and for charging hubs.

Three ways to hold the same system: a key to own it, a calendar to lease it or pay monthly, and two joined pieces for a service or shared-savings contract. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Consulting engagements
  • Capex EPC
  • Storage-as-a-service
  • BOO / BOOT
  • Shared savings
  • O&M-only AMC
  • Lender and insurer documentation packs
