Energy technology consulting

Independent advice, before you spend

Decisions about storage, charging, solar, backup and the connection behind them lock in cost, safety and performance for a decade or more. As energy technology consultants, we help you make them on evidence: your load data, your tariff, your site and the rules that apply, not a vendor's brochure.

The questions worth answering before you buy

Each engagement ends in a document you can use: to decide, to tender, or to hold a contractor to.

Before you buy

  • Load & tariff study

We analyse 12 months of bills and 15-minute interval data against your tariff's time-of-day windows, demand charges and power-factor terms, and find what drives the cost.

    Deliverable: Load & tariff report

  • Energy & power-quality assessment

Before any battery: power factor, harmonics, voltage dips, contract demand and load scheduling. We list the low-cost fixes that should come first, such as capacitor banks, demand settings and moving a process, and say when storage is not the answer.

Deliverable: Assessment note with first-step measures

  • Storage feasibility & sizing

Power (kW), energy (kWh), duration, depth of discharge, degradation and augmentation, sized to the jobs the battery must do, with the value calculated from your data and every assumption shown.

Deliverable: Feasibility report with sizing options

  • Technology selection

Chemistry, with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) as the default for stationary storage; cabinet or container; AC- or DC-coupled; air or liquid cooling; and what suits a hot, humid or coastal site.

    Deliverable: Technology options note

  • Solar-plus-storage & genset hybrid studies

How storage changes your solar self-consumption and your diesel or gas genset running hours, and the control logic needed to make the three work together.

    Deliverable: Hybrid operating concept

  • EV charging site feasibility

Charger mix, connection size and sanctioned load, tariff category, and whether a battery buffer beats a transformer upgrade.

Deliverable: Site feasibility & connection plan

  • EV fleet transition study

For e-3W, cab, delivery and bus fleets: duty cycles, dwell times, charger mix, depot power and tariff category, phased so the connection and the chargers grow with the fleet.

    Deliverable: Fleet charging plan

  • Technical due diligence

For lenders, investors, lessors and buyers of storage, solar-plus-storage or charging assets: design, equipment certificates, warranties, contracts, performance data and compliance, reviewed independently.

    Deliverable: Due-diligence report

  • Tender & bid support

For public bodies, developers and contractors: technical specifications, bid documents and compliance matrices for storage or charging work, with local site and approvals input for southern Tamil Nadu.

Deliverable: Tender specification or bid compliance matrix

  • Compliance & approvals roadmap

What the CEA regulations, the Electrical Inspectorate, your distribution company (DISCOM), the fire service and the battery-waste rules require for your project, and when.

    Deliverable: Compliance checklist & timeline

  • Energy roadmap for campuses & multi-site owners

A phased plan across solar, storage, charging and backup, so each step makes the next one easier.

    Deliverable: Phased roadmap

While it's built

  • Owner's engineer & specifications

Technical specifications aligned to the CEA's 2026 battery energy storage system (BESS) safety and construction regulations and IEC 62933 test methods; bid evaluation; design review; site supervision on your behalf.

Deliverable: Specification & bid evaluation matrix

  • Factory audits & FAT witnessing

We check the product and the paperwork at the factory: cell and pack test reports, battery management system (BMS) behaviour, fire-system interlocks and module traceability.

Deliverable: Factory acceptance test (FAT) report

  • Safety & risk review

A hazard review of layout, spacing, ventilation, detection and suppression, based on the OEM's UL 9540A fire-test data, plus an emergency response plan for your site.

Deliverable: Safety design memo & response plan

Once it's running

  • CEA 2027 readiness review (existing BESS)

The CEA's battery-storage safety chapter takes effect on 1 April 2027 for systems connected above 650 V. It requires an independent third-party fire-safety audit under a procedure the CEA is to issue, sets a three-month window from 1 April 2027, and asks for the report at the Electrical Inspector's inspection. We check your system and records against the chapter, list the gaps and prepare the audit pack. We are not the auditor.

Source: CEA, CEA (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Amendment Regulations 2026, reg 122(M) (opens in a new tab) (Gazette, 30 March 2026).

Deliverable: Gap list & audit-readiness pack

  • Independent health check

For batteries, chargers or hybrid systems already in service: inspection, a capacity and efficiency test, alarm and log review, and a plain list of what to fix, whoever installed it.

    Deliverable: Health-check report

Questions about consulting

No. Sometimes the better first step is reducing contract demand, fixing power factor, moving a process or adding solar. A battery has to earn its place, and a good study tells you when it won't.

Only if you want us to. When we act as your independent consultant, we tell you in writing before quoting to supply, and you remain free to tender the work to others.

12 months of electricity bills, 15-minute interval data if your meter records it, your contract demand, single-line diagram, DG details and running hours, any solar data, and a site walk.

It depends on the site and the data available. After a first conversation we quote a fee and a timeline for your study.

If it is connected above 650 V, the CEA's battery-storage safety chapter applies. It requires an independent third-party fire-safety audit under a CEA procedure, within a three-month window from 1 April 2027, with the report produced to the Electrical Inspector. Systems at 650 V and below must meet the relevant standards, which the CEA is to list. We can review your system against the chapter and prepare you for the audit.

Yes. As owner's engineer we review the design, witness factory and site tests, and check commissioning on your behalf.

The CEA regulations, including the 2026 BESS safety and construction amendments that apply from 1 April 2027; IEC 62933 (IS 17067) test methods; and equipment certified to IEC 62619, UL 1973, UL 9540 or equivalents, with UL 9540A fire-test data.

Our base is Nagercoil. Delivery work is centred on Tamil Nadu and Kerala; consulting and owner's-engineer work can go wherever the project is.
